7th Grade Math Grading Plan
2017-2018
The 7th Grade Math PLT has met and agreed on the following grading practices. Please review this document carefully and use as a reference throughout the school year.
Type of Assignment
Grading Practice
Homework
Homework is designed to be practice and reinforcement of the skills that have been taught that day or a review of previously taught material. Homework is assigned daily and on the weekends. Students have up to 24-hours to turn in an assignment late. Late work receives a maximum grade of 60%. Incomplete homework assignments may be turned in 24-hours late for a maximum grade of 60%. Homework can be graded for accuracy or completion. If a student is absent, students must make up the assignment and turn it in the day they return or the day after they are given the assignment.
Classwork
Classwork is due the day of the assignment, unless otherwise stated by the teacher. Students may not correct or re-do an assignment to improve their grade. If a student is out, the teacher has the option to give an alternate assignment to complete. Classwork assignments may or may not allow students to use their note and/or resources.
Quizzes
There are no quiz re-takes. If a student is absent, they will be offered the quiz the next day during guided study or during class.
Tests
A study guide may not be provided. Students should use their classroom notes, assignments, and quizzes to help them as they prepare for the unit test. If a student is absent, they will take the test the day that they return during guided study or class. Students may re-test if: they score less than 70%, have their test signed, and complete test corrections. To correct a test, on a separate sheet of paper, students must explain in complete sentences their error and solve the problem correctly. Corrections must be turned in at least one day before the retest. Students may retest during guided study or class.

The NGMS staff agrees that:
- Grades from assessments (formative/summative), projects, class work and homework should reflect proficiency.

- Missing or Incomplete assignments should not be assigned a grade until the student has had an additional opportunity to turn-in, retake or correct an assignment. Incomplete or missing assignments should receive a zero after an additional opportunity has been provided.
